IATA (International Air Transportation Association) is an international commercial enterprise accepting only airline companies as a member. The centre of the association is in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. IATA was founded in 1945, in Havana, Cuba as an organization of airlines to provide secure, reliable and affordable air transportation. At the foundation IATA had 57 members from 31 different countries, whereas today the number reached to 270 members from 140 different countries all over the world.
TÜRSAB (Travel Agency Association of Turkey) is a professional union, founded in accordance with the 1618 numbered “Travel Agencies and Travel Agencies Association Law” that was put into effect on 28 September 1972. The main goal of TÜRSAB is to support the development of tourism, which forms the base of the occupation and the functioning area of the travel agencies. In accordance with the competence as 1618 numbered law sets, securing the professional discipline, supporting the activities improving the profession and making studies to find solutions to the problems of travel agencies are some of the most important functions of TÜRSAB.
